These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Rise of Civilizations (the "Game"), including the browser client, mobile apps, multiplayer servers, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by the Rise of Civilizations project ("we," "us," or "our").
By creating an account, playing the Game, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country to consent to online services) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
Rise of Civilizations is a turn-based strategy game. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial entertainment. Features may change over time, including during early access or beta releases. We may add, modify, suspend, or remove features without notice.
Single-player modes can be played without an account. Saves are stored locally in your browser or device unless you choose to export or back them up yourself.
Online multiplayer requires an account and connection to our servers. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, matchmaking, or preservation of online game state.
When you register, you choose a username and password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at legal@rise-of-civilizations.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
Usernames must not impersonate others, infringe trademarks, or contain hate speech, slurs, or sexually explicit content. We may reject, rename, or suspend accounts that violate these rules.
Optional newsletter signup requires a valid email address. You may unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time; operational messages about your account or the Service may still be sent when necessary.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and play the Game for your own entertainment. You may not:

Multiplayer chat and usernames may be visible to other players. You are solely responsible for what you communicate in-game.
The Game, including art, music, code, trademarks, civilization names used as game content, and all other materials we provide, are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights.
Historical figures, place names, and real-world references used in the Game are for educational and entertainment purposes. Third-party names and likenesses belong to their respective owners.
The Game is currently offered without in-app purchases. If we introduce paid features in the future, additional terms and platform-specific refund rules (for example, Google Play or Apple App Store policies) will apply at the time of purchase.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) TEN EUROS (€10), OR THE MINIMUM AMOUNT REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including licenses, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law) will survive termination.
To request account deletion, contact legal@rise-of-civilizations.com. We will delete or anonymize personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, subject to legal retention requirements.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page and update the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Croatia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also have rights under EU consumer-protection legislation. Disputes should first be raised with us at legal@rise-of-civilizations.com. EU consumers may use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
